Our honey is gathered from World Heritage rain forest areas on the West Coast of Tasmania. The air has been accredited as being the cleanest air on the planet. This unique honey is sold in Australia, mainly in Woolworth's spread departments, health food, gourmet, and natural food outlets as well as tourist shops and supermarkets in Tasmania. Ever expanding shipments are made to the USA, Japan and Lebanon.

Four to five men work the bees during the Honey flow, with the honey being returned to Mole Creek for extraction. The honey is extracted in hygienic conditions, using all stainless steel equipment, and pumped into stainless steel storage tanks in the modern packing room. Our bottling and labelling machines are the best in Tasmania and the factory is the most up to date and efficient for its size in Australia. In addition to having organic certification for our Golden Nectar Real Leatherwood Honey, we are certified to BQual (the Australian honey industry's quality standard) and are approved to use the Tasmanian Quality Assured Quality Mark.

Passionate about honey and all things Tasmanian, Julian Wolfhagen kept bees as a child, and was inspired to start the Tasmanian Honey Company in 1978 while sharing a bottle of mead with some friends in a mountain hut.

Since then, the business has gone ahead in leaps and bounds and we export our raw, wild honey across the globe. Whilst our flagship product is still Tasmania’s unique leatherwood, with its spicy piquant flavour, we also produce Tasmanian manuka, meadow, Christmas bush and eucalyptus honey, as well as some other seasonal varieties, all from our own beehives. Unlike many mass produced honeys, the temperature of our honey has been carefully maintained below 45o C in order to preserve its flavour, its aroma and its health benefits. Another important factor in the quality of our honey is our simple yet special packing technique which results in a velvety and spreadable consistency which has the effect of making our honey feels as though it is melting in your mouth.

We adhere to a strict Quality Management System and are certified to both HACCP and BQual.
